ChatGPT
Last updated
Install the vTilt plugin in ChatGPT, or connect the MCP URL in Developer Mode. OAuth sign-in; no personal API key required.
vTilt lists as a ChatGPT plugin on top of the same remote MCP server other clients use (https://www.vtilt.com/api/mcp). You sign in with your vTilt account. There is no anonymous access to project data, and there are no in-chat widgets — answers are tool results (text and structured JSON).
#Directory plugin (recommended)
When the listing is live in ChatGPT Plugins:
- Open ChatGPT → Settings → Plugins (or chatgpt.com/plugins).
- Find vTilt and add it.
- ChatGPT opens vTilt sign-in in the browser. Approve the consent screen (
mcp:readplus OAuth basics). - Start a new chat, pick vTilt from + → More, and ask about visits, bounce rate, or where traffic came from.
Refreshing tokens happens in the background. See OAuth for scopes, discovery, and troubleshooting.
#Developer Mode (custom MCP URL)
Use this before the directory listing is published, or to point at a preview host.
- Settings → Security and login → Developer mode (paid plan; Business/Enterprise needs an admin).
- Settings → Plugins → +.
- Name it
vTilt, pastehttps://www.vtilt.com/api/mcp, create, and sign in.
Do not add ?toolsets= to that URL. OAuth tokens are minted for https://www.vtilt.com/api/mcp with no query string; a query pin can fail audience checks.
#What ChatGPT can call
The first tools/list is the boot set: orientation (get_guide, get_context, list_projects), analytics (get_kpis, get_attribution, list_recent_events, list_event_types), VQL (get_query_schema, validate_query, run_query), and search_docs.
Feature-auto toolsets (recordings, AI memory, site knowledge, ads, inbox) appear in that first list when any accessible project has the feature connected. Call-time checks still use the effective project.
Traffic sources: ask "where did visitors come from?" or "is this Google Ads or direct?" — that is get_attribution. get_kpis top_sources is session-entry referrer and labels gclid-only paid clicks as "direct".
#Example prompts
- How many visits last week?
- What's our bounce rate?
- Is traffic Google Ads or direct?
- What events do we track?
- Show recent pageviews.
